Pittsburgh Virtual Reality Driving Simulator

Ultimate Defensive Driving School is passionate about safe driving. Palmiero Toyota Scion in Meadville is a company that shares that same passion. To bring awareness to teen safe driving, Palmiero had Ultimate Defensive Driving bring their state of the art virtual reality driving simulator to their dealership.

For two days, teenagers from around the area got the opportunity to test their driving skills in the simulator while behind the wheel of an actual car.  Many challenging scenarios were given to them as they drove. Scenarios included driving around objects, an animal running across the road, pedestrian crossing the road, and the teens could text and drive. This was an eye opener for both the teens and their parents.

In a controlled environment, it’s feasible to allow the teens to text and drive. When the driver was texting and driving, the audience was able to see the driver’s lane deviations and ultimately crash. Seeing the consequences first hand, will ensure that teens will not make the mistake of reading or composing a text behind the wheel of a car.

With this virtual reality simulator, Ultimate Defensive Driving School will be able to increase awareness of safe driving in both teens and adults and also to demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving.
